“When I hear the knock on my door, I know it’s my Meals on Wheels volunteer delivering my meal, and that just makes me so happy. I know I can always rely on them to be there for me.”

Driven by compassionate volunteers and donors, we deliver hot, nutritious meals, friendly visits, and weekday check-ins.

We empower people to live independent lives at home by ensuring our neighbors are physically nourished.

Our services improve health outcomes, reduce the risk of health complications, and ultimately increase their overall quality of life.

Melas on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg’s receives no government funding; state or federal. One hundred percent of our funding comes from private donations, corporate donors, or grants. Doing this ensures we can serve all ages, incomes, and abilities.

  • A Daily Dose of Connection

It’s so much more than a meal. We deliver a warm smile and friendly conversation alongside every nutritious meal, proving that no neighbor is ever truly alone.

  • Caring for our Neighbors

While our meals provide physical sustenance, the daily visits from our dedicated volunteers nourish the spirit and the heart.

While our mission relies entirely on volunteers to deliver meals and check-ins, our drivers often say they get just as much out of the experience. To them, delivering isn't a task—it’s a rewarding, heartwarming privilege that they look forward to every week.
