You’ve come to the right place.
Every day, our volunteers deliver approximately 600 meals to local recipients.
On a typical route, you will deliver about a dozen or so meals, and countless smiles, in less than 90 minutes.
Making a difference with Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg
can be done in four easy steps.

1. Pick Up
Meet one of our expeditors at your designated pick up time. Unsure of where to go? Check the FAQs below for locations.

2. Load Up
For your safety, do not get out of your vehicle. Our team will load your coolers into your vehicle and provide your delivery list.

3. Deliver
Open the Serv Tracker app to view your route list. Login using the provided credentials. From there, you’ll deliver meals.

4. Return
Sign out of the app and head back to the pick-up site. Leave your empty coolers in the return locker!

To become a Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg you must:
Have a desire to serve your neighbors and community
Have a valid driver’s license
Have reliable transportation with valid insurance
If you are a minor you must be accompanied by an adult

Most routes are designed to take between 60 - 90 minutes to complete.

If you arrive and there is a severe medical crisis such as unconsciousness:
Call 911 immediately.
Do not attempt to move the recipient.
Call Meals on Wheels at 434.386.7200 immediately after alerting emergency services so we can send staff to your location.
Non-emergent concerns should prompt a phone call to our Director of Operations at 434.386.7200

When heading to pick up your meals, please be sure you have:
your cell phone, fully charged, with the ServTracker app downloaded.

your Meals on Wheels volunteer badge (ask the expediter at pickup if you need one!)
your Meals on Wheels tray to help transport meals from car to door (ask the expediter at pickup if you need a tray)

Yes. As a volunteer for a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, you can track your mileage driven for deliveries and claim it as a charitable deduction on your income taxes. The office can provide a year-end letter confirming your volunteer hours upon request.
