Planned Giving is a way to support Meals on Wheels of Greater Lynchburg through your estate plan or will. Your thoughtful foresight, generosity, and commitment will ensure the long-term success of our program.
Planned gifts are best made with the counsel of a financial or legal advisor who can direct you in the tax benefits of IRA rollovers, charitable distributions, and federal income or estate tax deductions.

Legacy Gifts
One simple way to ensure your legacy and support Meals on Wheels is through a Bequest.
To help you get started on your plans and legacy, you can use FreeWill, an online tool that guides you through the process of creating your will or trust for free. It’s easy to use, accessible online, and can be completed in 20 minutes. You can use this resource on its own, or to document your wishes before finalizing your plans with an attorney.

Beneficiary Designations
Do you have an IRA, 401(k), life-insurance policy, or any other assets not included in your will? If so, these are called non-probate assets and you must plan your beneficiaries for them separately.

The Steward’s Society
The Steward’s Society honors donors who provide a special gift that will feed our homebound neighbors for all time. A gift in the amount of $26,000 (lump sum, or paid over 3 years) will provide meals ‘forever’ for one person in our community.
Participation in the Steward’s Society is simple and flexible:
- Donate directly—a gift of $26,000 will feed one of our neighbors forever!
- Give a lump sum, or pledge over 3 years
- Include a gift in your estate plans
- Create a Charitable Gift Annuity
